And one cried to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭6‬:‭3‬

In Isaiah 6:3, we get a close view of the throne room of God, where the seraphim—heavenly beings—declare the holiness of the Lord with resounding voices. The repetition of “holy” three times emphasizes the absolute and infinite purity, majesty, and perfection of God. This triple declaration signifies that God’s holiness is complete and beyond comparison.

God’s holiness is the foundation of His character. It sets Him apart from all creation and reveals His moral perfection and absolute purity. Everything about God is holy—His love, His justice, His mercy, and His power. His holiness is not just an attribute but the essence of who He is.

The seraphim also proclaim that “the whole earth is full of His glory.” This statement points to the presence of God’s glory in all creation. Everywhere we look, we can see reflections of God’s beauty, power, and majesty. From the vastness of the universe to the intricate details of nature, God’s glory is evident and fills the earth.

Recognizing God’s holiness and glory should lead us to a response of worship. It should humble us, as it did Isaiah, making us aware of our own unworthiness and need for God’s grace. In Isaiah’s vision, he immediately recognized his sinfulness in the presence of God’s holiness, but he also experienced God’s cleansing and commissioning.

Today, take time to reflect on the holiness of God. Recognize how His glory fills the earth. And be mindful of our own need for His grace and cleansing, allowing His holiness to transform us and draw us closer to Him.

Pray

Lord, I stand in awe of Your majesty and purity. I also proclaim, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” Cleanse me from my sins and draw me closer to You, that I may reflect Your holiness in my daily walk. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. As we reflect on their courage and selflessness, we are reminded of the profound truth in Jesus’ words in John 15:13. The greatest expression of love is to lay down one’s life for others.

The selfless acts of these individuals mirror the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross. Jesus laid down His life for us, not only as a friend but as our Savior. His sacrificial love provides the foundation for our understanding of true love and service. Just as the soldiers we honor gave their lives to secure our physical freedom, Jesus gave His life to secure our spiritual freedom.

As we honor the memory of those who have fallen, let us also reflect on how we can embody sacrificial love in our daily lives. This kind of love calls us to put others’ needs before our own, to serve selflessly, and to be willing to make sacrifices for the well-being of others. It challenges us to live in a way that honors their legacy and reflects the love of Christ.

On this Memorial Day, as we remember the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women, let us also remember the sacrifice of Jesus. His love calls us to a higher standard of living—one marked by selflessness, service, and a willingness to lay down our lives, metaphorically and sometimes literally, for the sake of others.

Pray

Lord, thank You for the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their bravery and selflessness are a testament to the greatest love of all—the love that lays down one’s life for others. Comfort the families who have lost loved ones, and grant us the strength to honor their legacy through our actions. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
‭‭Acts‬ ‭6‬:‭7‬

The early Church faced numerous challenges as it sought to fulfill the Great Commission of spreading the gospel to all nations. From disputes to persecution, the disciples encountered obstacles at every turn. Yet, in the midst of adversity, they remained faithful in their dedication to God’s mission.

Despite facing opposition from religious leaders and societal pressures, the disciples continued to preach the gospel with boldness and conviction. And as a result, the Word of God spread rapidly, and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem.

The growth of the early Church was a demonstration of God’s power at work through His Spirit. The Holy Spirit empowered the disciples to proclaim the gospel with clarity and conviction, and He moved in the hearts of hearers, drawing them to faith in Christ.

We should be inspired by the example of the early Church. May we, like the disciples, remain steadfast in our commitment to proclaiming the gospel, even in the face of opposition and adversity. And may we trust in the power of God’s Word and the work of His Spirit to continue transforming lives and multiplying disciples for His kingdom.

Pray

Lord, thank You for the example of the early Church and the power of Your Word to transform lives. Help me to be a bold and faithful witness for You, even in the midst of challenges and opposition. May Your Spirit empower me to spread the gospel with clarity and conviction, and may Your kingdom continue to advance as a result. In Jesus’ name, amen.
