Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
Proverbs 16:24
Question
Are your words bringing sweetness and healing, or bitterness and harm, to those around you?
Context
In the book of Proverbs, Solomon teaches that wisdom isn’t just about knowledge, it’s about living rightly before God and others. In ancient times, honey was both a rare delicacy and a natural medicine. So when Solomon compares gracious words to honeycomb, he’s showing that our words have dual power. They can delight and heal.
Application
Your words are one of the most powerful tools God has given you. Everyday we have the choice to speak life or to speak hurt. When we allow the Holy Spirit to guide our speech, our words become like honey, sweet, soothing, and healing to those who hear them. Today, before you speak, pause and ask: “Will this bring healing or harm?” “Will this reflect Christ or my frustration?” Let your words be an overflow of His grace in you.
Truth For The Day
Words that come from a heart filled with Christ bring life, healing, and hope.
Pray
Lord, let my words today be filled with grace and truth. Help me to speak kindness when I’m tempted to be sharp, encouragement when others are discouraged, and wisdom that reflects Your heart. Make my tongue an instrument of healing and not harm. In Jesus’ name, amen.
