More Blessed To Give

More Blessed To Give

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Acts 20:35

We Can’t Out Give God

You will not find a reference in any of the four gospels of Jesus that quote Him saying, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”  There are a lot of things that Jesus said and did that are not recorded in the Bible.  John 21:25 says, “Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”  Remember that Paul is quoting this in the Book of Acts and Paul did not live during the same time as Jesus lived.  So how did Paul know that Jesus said this?  Paul says in Galatians 1:11-12, For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel.12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.”  Jesus revealed many things to Paul.

Even though we do not have a written record of Jesus stating that it is more blessed to give than to receive, it does align with His teachings.  Luke 6:38 says, “give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Paul knew the teachings of Christ when it came to giving and receiving.  The blessing of joy is received when you give so be sure to give big, give much and give often.

Prayer

Lord, help me to have the right attitude when it comes to giving.  Show me how I can give to others.

A Wonderful Counselor

A Wonderful Counselor

…and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor…
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6‬

Someone To Talk To

The prophet Isaiah spoke of Jesus over 700 years before He was born unto man. Isaiah said His name shall be called “Wonderful Counselor”.  And what a Wonderful Counselor He is.

There are times in our life when we need to turn to wise counsel. Sometimes we have to make hard decisions not knowing what the outcome or impact might be. This is when we trust the Lord for His infinite wisdom. We should always turn to the Lord first and seek His counsel when we need answers to our questions. He is always available to speak to. There is no appointment needed and there is no charge for His services. Why would we seek any other counsel?

Jesus has everything we need. If we need financial help He is our Financial Advisor. When we need marriage advice, He is our Marriage Counselor. If we need help deciding a career, He is our Guidance Counselor. He is a Counselor of all things. We need to turn to Jesus first before we turn to anyone else or to anything.

As a Wonderful Counselor, He will not condemn you. He will listen as One who really cares and understands what you feel and knows what’s going on in your life. He is there to support you and help you every step of the way. He is a friend in time of need. Not only will He give you the truth you need to hear but He will supply the needs that you have. There is only One who can do all things. There is only One who knows all things. He name is Jesus and we call Him “Wonderful Counselor”.

Prayer

Turn to Jesus with everything that is on your heart and mind today.
