For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
‭‭Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭36‬

In this single verse, the apostle Paul expresses the scope of God’s reign over all creation. It serves as a beautiful reminder of our place in God’s grand design and calls us to respond with awe, reverence, and adoration.

This verse affirms that everything originates from God, finds its sustenance in Him, and ultimately returns to Him. Every aspect of creation, every event in history, every moment of our lives is under His sovereign control and authority. Nothing exists apart from Him, and nothing happens outside of His divine purpose.

As we meditate on this truth, we are invited to surrender ourselves to the sovereign will of God. We are reminded that our lives are not our own but belong to the One who created us and sustains us. In times of uncertainty and difficulty, we can take comfort in knowing that God is in control and that He works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28).

Recognizing that all things are from Him and through Him leads us to respond with gratitude and praise. Every blessing we receive, every provision we enjoy, is a gift from the hand of our Heavenly Father. In moments of joy and abundance, may we lift our voices in thanksgiving, acknowledging the source of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17).

As we contemplate that all things are to Him, we are reminded of our ultimate purpose: to bring glory to God.

Lord, I am in awe of Your sovereignty and majesty, for of You and through You and to You are all things. Help me to surrender to Your will and to trust in Your goodness and faithfulness. May I bring glory to Your name, as I acknowledge You as the source and sustainer of all things. In Jesus’ name, amen.

He said to Him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭18‬-‭19‬

One day a rich young man asked Jesus what good thing he must do to obtain eternal life. Jesus responded by listing several commandments, including those related to relationships with others (such as not murdering, committing adultery, stealing, bearing false witness, and honoring parents) and one that includes love for both God and neighbor (loving one’s neighbor as oneself).

Jesus affirms the importance of following the commandments related to interpersonal relationships, emphasizing the need for love, honesty, and respect in our interactions with others.

First, Jesus underscores the sanctity of human life and the value of preserving it by commanding against murder. He emphasizes the sacredness of the marital bond by prohibiting adultery and emphasizes honesty and integrity through the prohibitions against stealing and bearing false witness.

Furthermore, Jesus highlights the significance of honoring one’s parents, recognizing the role of family relationships in shaping our lives and society. But perhaps most importantly, Jesus concludes His response by pointing to the overarching principle of love: loving one’s neighbor as oneself.

Loving one’s neighbor as oneself goes beyond mere adherence to a set of rules; it requires genuine care, compassion, and empathy for others. It calls us to treat others with the same kindness, grace, and respect that we desire for ourselves.

Today, let us commit ourselves to loving God and loving others, knowing that in doing so, we fulfill the greatest commandments of all.

Lord, thank You for the guidance You provide through Your Word. Help me to be characterized by love, honesty, and respect for others. Enable me to honor You by loving my neighbors as myself, reflecting Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭17‬-‭18‬

In times of trouble and distress, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and alone. We may be tempted to question whether God hears our prayers or cares about our struggles. However, today’s verses reassure us of God’s unfailing love and faithfulness to His people.

First, we are reminded that the Lord hears the cries of the righteous. No matter how desperate or dire our circumstances may seem, God is always attentive to the prayers of His people. He is not indifferent to our pain or suffering but is actively involved in our lives, working on our behalf to deliver us from all our troubles.

Second, we are comforted by the promise that the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart. In moments of grief, loss, or disappointment, God draws near to us with His comforting presence. He is our refuge and strength, offering peace to those who turn to Him in their time of need.

If you’re in a season of distress or brokenness, take comfort in the promises of Psalm 34:17-18. Know that God is with you, and He hears your prayers. Cry out to Him in faith, and trust in His unfailing love to sustain you and bring you through every trial. If you know someone who is in need of encouragement, pass this truth along to them.

Lord, thank You for Your promise to hear the cries of Your people and to draw near to those who are brokenhearted. In times of trouble and distress, help me to turn to You in faith, knowing that You are my ever-present help in times of need. May Your comforting presence bring peace and healing to my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
