Attributes Of Jesus

David himself calls him Lord. So how is he his son?” And the great throng heard him gladly.
‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:37‬

Jesus had a multitude of followers but they were not the educated or the sophisticated. They were common people who gladly listened to His words. They received His preaching and teaching because His words were relatable and understandable.

Jesus had three attributes that contributed to His messages. First, He had godly character. People will listen when they witness godly character. If you don’t display godly character in your life, people will not listen to your message or testimony.

Second, Jesus had holy conduct.  His conduct proved what He said was true and honest.  His conduct was without flaw.  Holy conduct proves what you believe.  His conduct reflected what He taught.

Third, Jesus had concern for others.  Because He was concerned for others salvation, people would give their attention to Him.  When you show people that you care for them, they will gladly hear what you have to say.

With these three attributes people gladly listened to Jesus when He spoke.  Do you exhibit these three attributes in your life? Make your voice be heard by living like Jesus.

Pray

Lord, let others see You through my actions.  Let my words prove that You are my Lord. Give me boldness to share the gospel with everyone I see.

Virtue Of Love

And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:2‬ ‭

There is great power in the virtue of love.  It is a characteristic of a Christian.  The apostle Paul knew how important it was to exemplify true love toward others.  He also knew that without love he was nothing.

In the previous chapter, Paul discusses spiritual gifts that are given to Believers by the Holy Spirit.  In this verse he mentions three of them.  Prophecy refers to the ability to declare God’s Word with power.  Knowledge involves the deep understanding of God’s Word.  Faith is the ability to trust God for great and mighty things.  These three gifts are given by the Holy Spirit but without possessing love a person is “nothing.”

You can be intelligent, wealthy, and talented but if you don’t love you have nothing and are nothing. You could be a great doctor or lawyer or even a superb teacher, yet if you lack love, you are nothing.

God considers love to be one of the main characteristics that a Christian can possess.  Jesus set forth the best example of love.  He continually showed compassion to everyone He encountered.

This is the kind of love that we are to show everyone around us.  We are to study God’s Word and to be wise but we are to show love as well.  Love makes us be the person who displays the light of Jesus and shows the world who Jesus is.  Do you have love?

Pray

Lord, help me to express love to everyone I encounter today.  Teach me to love everyone, even my enemies. Let my love be an example of who You are.

Merry Christmas

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of he only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

God With Us

The birth of Jesus was a miraculous event not just because He was born of a virgin but because God became a man and came to this place called Earth. Matthew 1:23 says, “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel (which means, God with us). When Jesus was born the greatest blessing of all time was witnessed and some didn’t even realize that He was God. As we read through the Gospels we realize that a few knew that Jesus was God’s Son or God in the flesh. As John says, “we have seen His glory.”

Jesus is the most precious gift anyone can receive. Jesus is God’s gift to mankind. God became flesh so that we as believers may be with Him in Heaven for eternity. God wants to live in your heart and give you an amazing inheritance. Nothing can compare to the gift of receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. God came to save you from your sins. Have you invited Him into your life?

On this Christmas day take time to “see” His glory. Look out into His wonderful creation and witness His love towards mankind. The world is full of His majestic glory. Merry Christmas!

Prayer

Lord, we thank you for giving up your place on the throne and coming as a humble servant to die in our place on the cross. Thank you for giving us eternal life.
